Myanmar is an amazing travel place, there is such an abundance of colour, exotic places and interesting attractions. Few persons know about Myanmar, some only know it as Burma, the old name, and most people have the same reaction when they hear something like this from northern Thailand’s neighbors: “Myanmar, is this even a country?”

It is also fascinating, impressive and strikes you as a cold shower since you make the first step in the airport. Even though I seriously documented myself before going out this spring, nothing prepared me for the reality that you will discover there. Whether you want to get there in the very near future, or want to enrich your general culture a little, you should know a few things about Myanmar.

The national currency is the Kyat, the rate being 350 kyat to 1 leu. Although it may seem surprising, you will find plenty of ATMs in big cities such as Yangon or Mandalay. We, for example, withdrew cash twice in the 17 days, and sometimes, where it was possible, we also paid with the card (generally at hotels). And one more thing: we know that one of the great requirements of all modern tourists, so to speak, is to have, as much as possible, the Internet. Contrary to the information circulating on various sites, the Internet is doing well. We had a SIM with internet, MTP and Telenor, but also wi-fi at hotels, and it was perfect.

Dust country: Before we got here, we didn’t imagine there could be such a dusty country as Myanmar. It’s true that I had read about it, but we thought it must be an exaggeration. It wasn’t. It didn’t take long and I understood that a cloud of dust was practically floating above this country. The worst feeling I experienced was in Nyaungswe (a small town near Inle Lake), in Bagan, in Mandalay and its surroundings. The surgical masks were very useful, which we recommend wholeheartedly if you plan to spend a few days in the area. People: The 17 days I spent in Myanmar started a new challenge for us, to discover another people who are at least as friendly and welcoming as the Burmese. Everyone greets you, everyone smiles, the children gather flowers or fruits with their hands to give them to you, just so, when you visit there, whole families sit and smile broadly if they see that you want to make them picture, it even compliments you at every turn. We did our best: we had breakfast at the hotel, we prepared Indian dishes, we took over in restaurants with an international menu, although the latter version has a little budget. In order to avoid any controversy, we must mention from the outset that the prices we present refer to hotel accommodations, double rooms with private bathroom, good ratings (especially in the cleaning chapter), with breakfast included, close to tourist objectives, to meals in medium restaurants (neither luxurious nor cellars), air transport especially, since the land would have taken us a long time, and a series of trips.

Yangon (formerly Rangoon) is the commercial capital and largest city. The administrative capital is Naypyidaw. Burmese are Buddhists. If you ask them, they are more Buddhist than the Thai. If you don’t ask them, they don’t seem to mind. Women are safe, religion does not allow them to make obscene gestures or be violent. Don’t be afraid to get in a taxi in Yangon at any time of night, no matter how dubious your driver or taxi might look. However, ask the price before you go up. Currency conversion errors (in 2012, a flight from Myanmar to the United States was $300 because of a currency conversion mistake), an algorithm (in 2013, some people snagged flights to Hawaii for $7 round trip because of a computer glitch) and other human errors (programmers may forget the fuel surcharge, for example) can lead to these mistakes. Until 2015, the Transportation Department required all airlines to honor mistake fares; now the government simply requires airlines to refund your mistake fare and reimburse you for cancellation fees if you bought that fare and then tacked on hotels, excursions and other travel plans.

We do use organisations with in whom we have confidence and have used for years, but this doesn’t mean that your trip will always go smoothly. San Blas is still basically third world country and things do not operate as they do back home. The transport is operatd on a shared basis and they have to pick up other passengers so will sometimes be late to pick you up and to return you home. They may stop along the way to make stops that are unscheduled, they may try to fit one extra person in the car. The music could be too loud and there could be mechanical problems. When you arrrive in San Blas you may spend time waiting for transport to your place of accommodation and it may seem like no one knows what is happening. But it usually works out and you’ll make it there. Bear with it and remember, you’re not back home! A little discomfort now will be worth it when you’re relaxing on those beautiful beaches.

In this place the first Spanish settlement in the area was built in the early seventeenth century and was also where San Blas was founded. On the San Basilio Hill the most important Colonial Ruins on the Pacific Coast are found. The old fort of San Blas also known as La Contaduria (now semi-restored) and the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary «La Marinera» dating from 1769, where you can find the famous bronze bells immortalized by Henry W. Longfellow in his posthumous poem «The Bells of San Blas.» These Colonial ruins are not restored but well worth visiting… The church is beautiful and gives us a clear idea of the Spanish community that settled in San Blas in those days.

Few locations include Coiba, The waters of Panama are unmatched in their level of marine diversity, and nowhere is this more evident than in the Coiba National Marine Park. Top travel locations to visit in Costa Rica : For something a little different and a little off the beaten path, visitors may want to head to Tortuguero National Park on the Caribbean Coast. This area, accessible only by boat or plane, is one of the wettest areas in the country and offers something different than the rest of Costa Rica. He will come and collect you by small boat and charges 50 pesos ($2.50) per person to take you back to his island made from over 150,000 bottles. Richard explains how he gathers plastic bottles from Isla Mujeres and creates a platform from them by placing them into bags. On top of the bags, he places wooden pallets, adding plywood, carpet, sand and dirt, rocks and then plants mangroves that assists in binding it all together. Tadoba tiger park is an extraordinary place to travel. If you want to observe diversified wildlife, to feel the fabulous smell of the forest, to relax in the wild , returning to human land origins. There are plenty of national parks in India, here is some information about them and especially on Tadoba National Park.

Keoladeo National Park (formerly Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary), located 50 km from Agra, was once a reserve of duck hunting by the Maharajas. It has more than 350 species of birds, including palearctic aquatic migratory birds and a large gathering of non-migratory resident breeding birds. The park is open from sunrise to sunset throughout the year, although one third of it is often submerged during the monsoon season. The best time to visit is from August to November for resident breeding birds and November to March for migratory birds. Inside the park, it is possible to walk, bike, or take a bicycle or boat ride (when the water level is high). The best time to see tigers is during the warmer months, from March to May (although summer temperatures are extreme, especially in May). The monsoon takes place from June to September, after the monsoon (which is also hot) from October to November. December to February is winter, although the temperatures are still warm because the climate is tropical. The vegetation and the life of insects come alive with the arrival of the monsoon in mid-June. However, foliage growth can make it difficult to detect animals.

Must have for a Tadoba tour : Suitable safari clothes – keep track and don’t feel bad when they are filled or smeared with red dust. It would not be bad to be resistant to UV or mosquito bites, we wanted to be cautious to the end and invested in pants and shirts specially designed for such conditions. Bandavgarh, Madhya Pradesh: This is the best chance in all of India to see a wild tiger. You will almost be guaranteed a viewing if you spend one or two days here.
