Corset tops online shopping? You’re probably familiar with the slip dress and bustier tops, but this season, lingerie is taking center stage in the ready-to-wear world as opposed to its usual seat underneath it all. The title for this trend theme couldn’t be any clearer: Lingerie dressing is going way beyond the confines of the bedroom as traditional lingerie detailing such as hook and eye clasps, boning, garters, sheer paneling, tons of silks, lace, corsetry, and much more have worked their way into some of the most prominent spring collections. From Olivier Theyskens showing us that much less is much more to Dion Lee’s exciting take on all things boned and bound, the three trends ahead are our suggestion of where to start when it comes to tackling lingerie dressing this season.
Let’s discuss a few spring 2020 trends in the fashion industry. Last season found us in a sea of flowing tulle, indication that gala gowns were ready to hit the circuit beyond your basic black-tie affair. Expanding on that idea for spring 2020 are lovely and light tiered dresses that manage to offer volume, high drama, and maximum twirl-ability. Oscar de la Renta and Roksanda took the idea pretty in pink, while Preen, McQueen, and Dior went classic in black and white. Chanel’s tiered maxi skirts are surprisingly versatile pieces for spring—dress them up with the right blouse and shoe, or make them more casual with a bra top and sandals.
Feeling ethereal? You’re in for a treat: spring is looking like boon time for wafty white dresses. Of course, that doesn’t mean your old nightgown will do. At Loewe, delicate Guipure, Chantilly and marguerite lace and Japanese satin were deployed, trimmed with macrame, organdie bows and delicate flowers. “It couldn’t rely on raw seams, but had to rely on precision,” said Jonathan Anderson, of the extreme vision of femininity he presented. Side note: it’s a great season for off-the-peg wedding dresses. Consider this look carefree summer immortalised (so long as you steer clear of children, pets, and red wine).
When you have a slimmer physique, you will always have to opt for the tighter options because wearing baggy underwear can make you look more skinny or bony. Trunks suits this body type the most as they are longer than briefs yet not too tight to be worn. Wearing trunks won’t make you look as if you are wearing a diaper and at the same time your legs won’t look like matchsticks sticking out of a pile of fabric too. Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking. Meryl Streep might have been famously unimpressed by some of the spring/summer trends in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada, so it’s probably best she avoids this article. Floral designs are just one fashion trend set to return in a big way this spring, having been shown extensively at September’s Fashion Weeks. Not all the outfits which were showcased in Paris, Milan, London and New York will make it onto the high street in the exact form we saw them on the catwalk. But elements of the clothes on show – whether it be an idea, colour, material or pattern – are picked up and copied by other designers, and heavily influence what we see in the shops a few months later.
Bikinis are a type of underwear similar to the brief but without as much coverage. The waistband sits three inches below the waist and has high-cut leg holes. They also come in string bikini form, in which the leg holes are constructed with a thin string of fabric. They can come in the same comfy fabrics as briefs (cotton, microfiber, and nylon), but also the more delicate ones like lace and argyle mesh. Wear bikinis with: It’ll depend on the fabric, but bikini underwear types are super versatile. You can wear them with anything from your favorite pair of jeans to a mini skirt.
Limit the use of your fancy lingerie like thongs, G-string, crotchless ones, etc. Bacteria can quickly pass into your vaginal area and cause diseases. “I’m obsessed with this company, Else Lingerie, whose founder Ela Onur grew up working in her family’s lingerie business in Turkey. The simple lace pieces are well-designed and constructed. I bought several pairs of the Petunia high-waisted briefs, inspired by vintage pin-up styles, at a recent pop-up shop in Los Angeles. They are super flattering, thanks to the stretch mesh panels and corded lace that create a slimming effect – so chic.” – Rachel Marlowe, a Los Angeles-based style writer for Vogue, Hollywood Reporter and CNN Style See additional information on here.
